Nahant Active Shooter Update

At approximately 5:21pm on Sunday August 16, 2020, the Nahant Police Department received a call on the business line reporting an active shooter at a residence in the town of Nahant. Nahant Officers responded with the support of the Lynn Police Department, Swampscott Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, and Nahant Fire Department to contain and investigate the incident.

Officers were able to make contact with the residents of the house and determine that the incident was in fact a ‘swatting’ incident and there was no active shooter, nor was there any harm or threats to the residents or any members of the community.

The incident remains under investigation an no further information is available at this. A big thank you to all responding agencies for their assistance.
