As you know, 75% of child safety seats are installed incorrectly. The Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security has set-up more than 150 Child Safety Seat Inspection Sites throughout the state. Drivers can ensure their seat is installed correctly free of charge by visiting one of the many conveniently located sites.

The Highway Safety Division has produced two public service announcements below. More information is available by visiting our website at www.mass.gov/childsafetyseats or calling the toll-free Child Passenger Safety Hotline at 1-877-392-5956.

The Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, through the Highway Safety Division, has recently produced an important PSA about child safety seats. During the winter months, children in car seats are often buckled in wearing heavy gear.

However, this could prove dangerous and increase the risk of injury in a crash because the seat belt is not as close to the child. This PSA is designed to remind parents and caregivers to buckle their children in without heavy coats, and then put them on when they go outside.
